Frequent asked questions

Have questions about dance lessons?

How far in advance should we begin our lessons?

Plan to begin your lessons 3 months prior to your wedding day. This will allow you plenty of time to practice. If you would like to do a more elaborate dance with choreography, plan more time to do so.

If we did wait until the last minute, what should we do?

Give us a call at 214-228-4454 and we’ll see what we can work out.

What should I wear to my lesson?

Make sure to wear comfortable clothes that are cool and move easily. We see a range from work out clothes to business suits, so there is no need to change before your wedding dance lesson. For the brides, we have a selection of petticoats, so you can get an idea of how it will feel to dance in your wedding dress.

Do I need special shoes?

Wear comfortable shoes that will have just a bit of slide on a wood floor. Don’t wear flip-flops or mules; these types of shoes can come off your feet and be difficult to move in. Tennis shoes can be sticky on dance floors. As you progress, the bride may want to switch to shoes with heels that are close to the height of her wedding day shoes. A change in heel height can provide an extra challenge. You can also bring your wedding dance shoes so you can get a better idea of how they will feel to wear for an extended time.

Which song should we choose for our first wedding dance?

Choose a song that has meaning for you. We can teach you to dance to any song you choose for your First Dance. If you don’t have song yet, we can help you select a song that is perfect for you. We have suggestions and will be able to help you to be well prepared for your wedding dance. If you are in the process of selecting a song for your First Dance, everytime you think of an option, immediately jot it down, compile all of your options on a playlist and bring it with you to your wedding dance lessons. We can easily tell you which songs are harder to dance to and which are easier. As you progress in your lessons, you can also decide which songs you enjoy dancing to more.
